Administrative HistoryPurchased from the Bishop of Chester and others, 1873.
These premises, now demolished, stood on the east side of Northgate St., on the corner of Northgate St. and St. Werburgh St. They were the site of an inn known as the 'City Arms', but by 1851 were used as a spirit vaults and club room, The premises also comprised a shop. The conveyance to the Corporation was effected for the purpose of widening St. Werburgh St., and improving the approach to the west front of Chester Cathedral
