Administrative History | Purchased from the trustees of James Bingley Jones, 1876. These premises consisted of land at the lower end of Greenway Street, Handbridge, containing seventy nine square yards. This was the site of four cottages demolished by James Bingley Jones as a result of an agreement between himself and Chester Corporation, who had powers to buy land for street widening under the Public Health Act, 1875. This agreement was not finalised before James Jones died, 9 July 1876, but the contract was completed by his trustees |
