Administrative History | Administrative HistoryPurchased from George Henry Skelsey in 1895, subject to a perpetual yearly rent charge which was extinguished in 1946. This land comprising approximately 418 acres was acquired by the Corporation for the original purpose of refuse and sewage disposal, but the erection of artisans' housing on part of the site was also considered. The original farms have remained but the major development has been the establishment of the extensive Sealand Trading Estate. At Bumpers Lane on the estate, the cattle market is held while the Corporation refuse tip and extension of the sewage farm are also situated there |
