Purchased from the Ecclesiastical Commissioners for England, 1866.
This public house stood on the site of the present Town Hall, adjoining the 'Black Swan' on its north. It was purchased by the Corporation from the Ecclesiastical Commissioners, along with the 'Black Swan', 'Eastham Packet' and a shop and bakehouse in Northgate Street, a house, butcher's and barber's shop on the corner of Northgate Street and Princess Street, and three houses in Princess Street, all on the site of the present Town Hall, built 1865-1869
