Until about 1900, Nos. 75 and 77 Watergate Street Row, were numbered No. 67.
This property with No. 61, Watergate Street, and Nos. 71 and 73 Watergate Street Row, were the inheritance of the children of Thomas Knowles, died 1915, and partitioned between them in 1922.
These buildings are listed in Buildings of Architectural and Historic interest, 1947. By tradition, this was the site of the home of Henry Gee, Mayor of Chester, 1533-4
