| Description | From 1859, the ratepayers of Newton township met in a parish meeting. In December 1894, a new parish council was elected under the Local Government Act, 1894, but the parish meeting continued to exist until 1931. The parish council last met in March 1936, when the parish was divided by the Cheshire County Review Order. Part was transferred to Chester County Borough; the remainder to Hoole Urban District. The collection comprises parish meeting minute books; and parish council minute and account books. |
