DescriptionTwelve persons are appointed to audit the accounts of the Mayor on his several visits to London, and to assess the necessary rate to repay him on. The freemen of the City (with the exception of Richard Harper and Robert Snagg Esqs.) the Mayor, Justices and Sheriffs are appointed to assess the assessors.
Any person refusing to pay all or part of his assessment, is to be disfranchised.
(ZA/B/1/148v) Carters are to be licensed by the Mayor, and are not to use a cart within the City with iron-bound wheels, or to convey loads of coal, wood or muck over the paved streets, or to charge more than 6d. for conveying a load of a ton weight from the New Tower into the City.
The Treasurers are instructed to see to the repair of Dee Bridge, "now in ruyn and decay."
William Aldersay and John Cowper, Aldermen, William Goodman and Thomas Lynyall are appointed to draw up orders and regulations to guide the City in its new responsibility (granted in the new charter) concerning orphans. It is not considered that the regulations in force in the City of London will be entirely suitable.
