| Description | Copy of a letter from the Privy Council to the Mayor etc. and to William Massie, William Aldersey and Thomas Tetloe, deputy and assistants of the Company trading with Spain and Portugal. The dispute between the City and the Merchant Venturers of Chester on the one hand, and the Company trading to Spain and Portugal on the other, is to be submitted to legal opinion, and they are therefore requested to send up their charters and other evidence. In the meantime they are to be free of interference by the Company, and are instructed to inform the local representatives of the Company of that fact. |
