Description | July 30th. Election of William Aldersey, merchant, as Alderman, in place of William Cotgreve. Thomas Fletcher and Arthur Chauntrell, sureties for Griffith Dod, who has now defaulted, successfully petition that Chauntrell may take over the loan on the original terms, for the next six years. Many other petitions are deferred. The Company of Wrights and Slaters are threatened with dissolution unless they cease their exactions, and the Aldermen and Stewards are meanwhile to enter into bond to remedy their faults. Appointment of Peter Newall, merchant, Richard Pemberton, shoemaker, and Henry Hamnet, draper, as Wardens of the poor and the poor stock. Aug. 6th. Election of John Fyton, ironmonger, as Alderman in place of William Jewet. |
