DescriptionWilliam, son of the late Richard Thornton, merchant, is chosen by lot to have the university exhibition provided under the terms of Robert Offley's will. There were two other applicants, both supported by Robert Offley junior.
Thomas Lynaker the younger and John Scons, fishmonger, imprisoned for buying a common bargain of "Newland" fish while it ought still to have been reserved for the Mayor, are to be freed on payment of fines of 40/- each.
(ZA/B/1/252). Any freeman or foreigner who similarly purchases any bargain of edibles above the value of £10, to pay a fine of £10, and to be imprisoned during the pleasure of the Mayor.
Appointment of Alderman John Aldersay, and Peter Newall, merchant, as Overseers for the new haven.
Merchants are reminded that all imports must be entered in the Customs Book, and primage paid, the latter to go to the repair of the new haven. Apparently no entries have been made for the last two or three years.
The petition of Peter Buxy for a gathering, referred to the Mayor.
The petition of Raufe Rathburne, draper, for a loan from Worsley's bequest, is deferred.
