TitleOrders re work on 'the new haven', re freemen, re purchase of wood

DescriptionA Master, Treasurer, and two Overseers to be appointed; John Smythe, Thomas Aldersaye, William Leche, Aldermen, and Thomas Stuerde, are appointed first office-holders. With the assent of the Merchants, primage (an import duty of 3½d. a ton on all merchandise except corn) is to be set aside for the haven, and to "be from hensforth mayde a grante of ev'ye tonne" [? - to be charged on corn also?]. A voluntary rate is to be organized in each parish, to be collected by the churchwardens. The parishioners are to be free to offer what they will, but, once offered, the amounts are to be entered in a book and paid regularly.
No apprentice to be admitted into the freedom until he has served for seven years, and as a check, every apprenticeship to be enrolled within six months of its commencement. If the master die, the apprentice to serve out his time with the window, or with some other master following the same occupation. Further orders concerning the admission of foreigners, vintners, glaziers and joiners. Joiners and carvers are not in future to purchase more wood than they require for their own uses i.e. they are not to retail. (ZA/F/2/3).
