Description | William Mercer, tallow-chandler, was chosen to be one of Vernon's almsmen in the place of John Ball, deceased. A former order of 19th March, 1657/8 about the reviving of the Midsummer Show, was to be put into execution at Midsummer next. The Mayor and Justices of the Peace were to determine how the same should be performed. Richard Haworth, esq., had written to ask that he should be paid such fees as were due to him for being of the City's Counsel. It was ordered that the yearly fee of £2: 13s: 4d., together with the arrears, should be paid to him. He and all other persons who had been of the City's Counsel were discharged. Peter Welshman petitioned for a grant in fee farm of "soe much of the Cittie landes into the street to his house neare the Northgate, as the other houses thereunto adjoining are built". The Treasurers were to view the place and to report to the next Assembly whether a lease under an annual rent might be made. A grant in fee farm should not be made. |
