TitleAppointment; assessment for payment of soldiery; match; payment for stones
Date30th Apr 1661
DescriptionRandle Farrington, currier, was chosen to be one of Vernon's almsmen in the place of Edward Thompson, deceased.
An assessment to the value of £72 was to be made forthwith for the payment of the soldiery of the City. Seven assessors were appointed and the assessment was to be collected by the Constables of the several wards.
The Mayor and the Deputy Lieutenants of the City, upon request made to Mr Jeffrey Fleetwood, one of the Clerks of His Majesty's Ordnance, had procured twenty hundred weight of match to be left in the City for the King's service and the defence of the City if necessary. They had engaged to procure sufficient warrant for the discharge of the match, or otherwise to deliver into His Majesty's stores at the Tower of London the like quantity of good match within four months. It was ordered that if the match should be required at London it should be sent up at the City's charge, or the like quantity provided there.
Upon information that Mr Jonathan Ridge was sued by Mr William Bristow for stones delivered for the City's use, it was ordered that the Murengers should certify to the Assembly what quantity of stones had been disposed of for the City, and that they should pay Mr Bristow accordingly.
