Date23 Mar 1643
DescriptionThomas Watt was chosen a Councilman in the place of Edward Hallwood, deceased, and Edward Reynolds, draper, was chosen Leavelooker in the place of the said Edward Hallwood.
(ZA/B/2/62v). Order that the assessments heretofore made for the payment of soldiers to defend the garrison should be continued; and that Constables might distrain the goods of persons refusing to pay.
Petition of Randle Venables, glover, a young man lately made free and set up in his trade, for mitigation of the fine of 20s. which he had incurred for breach of an Assembly Order. Ignorant of the orders of the City he allowed his brother (a tanner and not a freeman of Chester), "to laye down and lighten" at his work house some tanned leather, which he had brought hither to sell, whereas the leather ought first to have been brought to the Common Hall. It was ordered that 15s. of the fine should be restored to him.
The petition of Robert Wilding, Yeoman of the Pentice, who for the last thirteen weeks had found charcoal for the City watch, (ZA/B/2/63) that he might be paid £3, was granted.
