DescriptionJohn Wynne elected Councilman in the place of John Brookes, Macebearer.
The Honourable John Glinne, esq., Recorder of the City of London and member of the House of Commons, was admitted to the freedom. (ZA/B/2/79). He was also elected Alderman in the place of James, Earl of Derby.
William Longton, esq., barrister-at-law, was elected as the City's Counsel in the place of Thomas Bavand esq., deceased, and was to have the usual fee of 4 marks a year.
The petition of Thomas Whittell, tanner, to be collector of tolls, stallages and other duties and rents in the City, in succession to Randle Ince, Macebearer, deceased, was granted. He had been forced to flee from the City at the beginning of the wars and had served in arms with the Parliament until he was taken prisoner at Warrington, where he got a sickness which disabled him from hard service. His whole estate in Chester had been seized and his wife and children turned out of town in the depth of winter and left desolate.
