Description | Petition of John Hickock, that he was apprenticed to Edward Phillips of Dublin, tallow chandler, who was also a freeman of Chester. His master undertook that on completion of his apprenticeship he would make him free of Chester and Dublin. After serving for three and a half years he came to England as the wars had begun in Ireland. He enlisted as a soldier in Parliament's service. Before his term expired his master came to Chester but was too poor to keep him at work. He was several times wounded and almost lost the use of his left arm. His master had died. He asks to be admitted to the freedom. Note of voting on the motion. |
