Description | Petition of William Bristow, stating that he had spoken with the then Treasurers concerning the enclosure of a piece of waste ground near Cowlane end, which was unprofitable and dangerous as persons had lost their lives in the ditches there. The ground extended from the ditch at the lower end of widow Francis' croft to the inclosure of Thomas Jones adjoining Horne Lane, within and without the mud wall. It had been agreed that he was to leave out of his enclosure a sufficient watering place and a way for two carts to pass. The Treasurers had demanded £50 p.a. for this but he had offered £3. He asks a grant in fee farm at a reasonable rent. |
