Description | Petition of John Parry, carpenter, who has lived and worked in the City for fifteen years. For the past half year he and his assistant have been working at Saughton on the hill for Alderman Walley but, for the work, the carpenters in the City have been demanding 4d. per day out of their wages. They will not allow him to work for himself or any master of their company and have threatened to turn him out of the City. He asks to be admitted to the freedom. Note: that he may with his men work as a carpenter in the City paying the company 12d. per quarter. |
