Description | (Peter Leigh Mayor) Petition of John Brerewood, Esq., executor of the will of Robert Brerewood, Sergeant at Law, his late father, deceased, stating that his father, about the 15th year of the late King Charles, was chosen to be Recorder of the City. There is a salary of 20 marks a year payable to the Recorder which his father received from his admittance until the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary 1643. From then until his removal after the Feast of St. Michael 1646 he received no fee, which amounted to £33. 6s. 8d. His father owed the City arrears of fee farm rents payable for tofts on which stood barns, houses and other buildings which were demolished in the late wars. He is willing to pay the arrears but petitions for payment of the above fees. Notes: 'deferred till next Assemblie' 'to be further advised of.'
