Description | Petition of Randle Holme, Alderman, stating that in October 1642 he was appointed Treasurer with Alderman Leycester. For the first quarter he did not meddle with receipts and payments either military or civil, which were executed by Alderman Leicester, but as he then could not officiate (by reason of his durance) the petitioner officiated 'in the then great occasions from January 1642 to October 1643' by receipts and disbursements. As he was then elected Mayor he resigned his Treasurership and tendered his accounts to be audited. The auditors, whom he names, found that he had spent £80 more than he had received as certified 17th March 1644, Mr. Charles Walley, Mayor. He asks for payment of the £80. Note: that his accounts be audited by the Auditors of the City accounts and a report made to the next Assembly. |
