DescriptionRichard Savage was elected Alderman in place of Robert Cappur, deceased, took the oaths and subscribed the declaration and took the usual oath of an Alderman. Thomas Hiccock, student and undergraduate of 'Brason nose' college, Oxford, son of William Hiccock of the City of Chester, beerbrewer, petitioned for Offley's exhibition of £5 yearly, the place being void. It was ordered that he be granted the same. Upon the petition of several inhabitants of Eastgate Street, desiring that the Linencloth market might be removed to the place where it was formerly, it was ordered that the market henceforth be kept in Watergate Street Row near the house and shop of Mr. Jonathan Ridge, where it was formerly kept. Upon the petition of Thomas Baker, gentleman, to be admitted to the freedom and that of the Company of innholders, it was not granted. Upon the petition of John Griffith, gentleman, desiring payment of £35.15s.8d., which he alleged he spent for the use of the City, it was ordered that search should be made whether there was an Assembly order for his employment by the City. If an order was produced the petition would be taken into further consideration.
