Description | Assembly order, by authority of the late Act (11 & 12 Will. III. See ACTS.), that for the term of 21 years there shall be paid to the Mayor and Citizens ¾d. for every barrel of coals of 200 1b. weight and 2d. for every barrel of lime or limestone which shall be brought to the City. For facilitating collection, it is ordered that all coal lime and limestone brought by land carriage for sale in the City shall be brought to the public market in Bridge Street. Robert Lownds and Richard Vernon, who are appointed Collectors of these duties, shall keep exact accounts of the sums received and the names of those paying them, and shall weekly deliver a duplicate account, together with the receipts to the Receiver General. Robert Hewit, Alderman, is appointed Receiver General if, at the next Assembly, he shall give good security and be bound in £500 for the faithful performance of the office In the meantime Robert Murrey and Richard Oulton, Aldermen, Treasurers of the City, are appointed Receivers. Collectors are to be allowed 1s. in the £ out of their receipts as salary to be divided equally among them, and the Receiver General 3d in the £. Commissioners are to be appointed to examine and audit the accounts and to execute the powers given to them by the late Act. |
