Administrative HistoryCharles Kingsley Secondary School for Girls opened in Blacon in April 1967. It was the successor school to Love Street Secondary School for Girls, which closed in 1967, (see ZD/ES/4/1-39) and work on the site began in November 1965. The design and building of the school was the responsibility of A.H.F. Jiggins, City Engineer and Surveyor, and S. Ripley, Deputy City Architect. The school was officially opened by the Mayor of Chester, Alderman Sylvia E. Harris, on 29 June 1967. As a result of the reorganisation of Chester schools into first, middle and high schools, Charles Kingsley Secondary School for Girls closed on 20 July 1972. From September 1972 its premises have been occupied by Blacon High School.
This girls' school was opened in Blacon in 1967 as the successor to Love Street Secondary School. It closed in 1972 and the premises have since been occupied by Blacon County High School. The collection comprises a
