Administrative HistoryNewton Council School was opened in 1939. It was originally planned that a school should be built in Newton by the Cheshire Education Authority, but the City Education Authority assumed responsibility for building a school after Newton was incorporated in the City of Chester in 1936. Following the reorganisation of Chester Schools, which took effect in September 1972, it became Newton First and Middle School and then Newton County Primary
