Administrative HistoryThis school was established by Chester British Schools Association in 1867 in premises in Windmill Lane (renamed Victoria Road from 1871). The lease of these premises expired in 1870, and it was decided to build a new school on an adjoining site. The foundation stone was laid by Hon. Norman Grosvenor M.P., on 22 March 1870. The school was opened by the Marquis of Westminster on 1 March 1871. There were three separate departments, infants, girls and boys.
The infants and girls were amalgamated in 1927, and in 1948 Victoria Road became a mixed junior school, when the boys and girls departments were amalgamated. The older pupils were transferred to Love Street and the College Schools.
It was redesignated Victoria First Schools in 1972 and closed in 1973.
