Description | Four local organisations, the Chester Archaeological Society, the Chester Society of Natural Science, the School of Science and the School of Art, set up a joint committee in the 1880s to provide a museum. The Grosvenor Museum opened in 1886 and housed the Technical Day School and City and County School for Boys until 1912 and the School of Art until c.1960. In 1913, the museum was transferred to the local education authority which was responsible for it until 1974. The records comprise minutes; a visitors' book; letter books; address registers; and correspondence. |
