Custody of imperial standards of weights and measures was transferred to the Board of Trade from the office of the Exchequer at Westminster, by The Standards of Weights, Measures and Coinage Act, 1866 (29 & 30 Vict. c.82). This and subsequent acts, laid down the methods by which weights and measures were to be verified by the Board of Trade, and the following documents are authorizations by the Board of Trade for the use of certain weights and measures in the city of Chester. |
