Parties: 1. John Savage junior, James de Legh of Adlyngton, 2. Robert del Dounes of Shrygley, William de Assheton and Agnes his wife.

Assignment of the Custody and Marriage (Wardship) which were granted to party 1 by Letters Patent of the late King Henry V dated at Cestr' [Chester] 13 January 1422; being the custody of the lands and holdings in Cheshire which were held on the day of his death by John del Dounes dcsd., by knight-service of the king as earl of Cestr' [Chester], reverted into the hand of the king through the minority of John's son and heir; until the majority of the said heir or of the next heir if he die leaving a minor heir; with custody of the said minor heir and the right of Maritage on the same terms, without disparagement, upon guarantee of proper maintenance.

Physical DescriptionParchment: 1 membrane 10½" wide by 9¼"; originally three seal labels, but one ripped away, one intact but sealless, the third is torn. Seals missing; traces of red wax and remains of parcels on the two surviving labels.
