DescriptionAward made by William Hondford of Hondford and Christopher Sauage Esquires, arbiters in a dispute between Roger Dovnes of Worth and Thomas Shrygley of Berestow the elder concerning the tenancy of 3 mills in Wayley, Ranow [Rainow] and Pot Shrygley [Pott Shrigley]. Provisions of the award; 1. Roger Dovnes to have the mill in Pot Shrygley [Pott Shrigley] for the term that Thomas Shrygley has it of the King or his Lordship the Prince, paying to Thomas therefor 4s. 8d. per annum. 2. Thomas Shrygley to make the mill of Pot Shrygley [Pott Shrigley] tenantable both with millstones and timber and the mill dam with sufficient course of water to it before the next ensuing feast of St. John Baptist or 40 days thereafter. 3. Roger to give Thomas 20s. payable in two equal parts at the Hegh Auter in Pot Chapell, and 6 sufficient trees towards the building the said mill. 4. Roger to keep the mill in good order. 5. Thomas to be free to grind where he chooses. 6. Roger to grind toll-free at Ranow [Rainow] mill until Pot Shrygley [Pott Shrigley] mill is repaired under supervision of the arbiters and two other persons.
