Bargain and Sale in consideration of £28. 0. 0. with reservation of a yearly rent of 9d. per annum and suit of court and mill and covenant to Warrant title for seven years within the county of Yorke [York] and the city of Yorke [York]; upon condition that party 2 pays 1d. per annum of the reserved rent and makes suit of court and mill in the manor of Halifax; of a close of barren ground called Goffolose in Halifax co. Yorke [York] now held by William Branthwayte abutting on a highway leading from Halifax to Willeyhall to the north and on a highway leading from Kingecrosse to Harrotwell to the west and on another close called Coffeclose held by one Henry Whitakers to the south, the premises being lately bought under Indenture of Bargain and Sale 30 November 1614 by Samuel Kinge from Sir Arthur Ingram of London Kt, William Ingram LL. D. and Richard Colthorpe of London Gent. Certificate of livery of seisin same date, witnesses - S. Midgley, Edward Wytecar, Frances Leigh his mark (a drawing of an axe), John Bamforth, William Fletchar his mark (two arrow-heads crossed, or a "M" of a "W"upside down.), George Wharledale.
