Petition to the Lords Commissioners of the Gt. Seal for a writ of Subpoena by Edward Downes son and heir of Edward Downes of Shrigley [Pott Shrigley] Esq against Edward Downes, Francis Lindley, George Piggott, Thomas Minshull, Lawrence Downes, Elianor, Margarett and Ann Downes, in a case wherein Thomas Minshull refuses to enter into an agreement with his fellow trustees to surrender the capital messuage of Shrigley [Pott Shrigley] (held in trust created by Surrender 28 May 1685) in order to create an estate for E. Downes junior to be offered as jointure in marriage to Sarah Ashton who had a fortune of £5,000 for which he is liable to be sued.

N.B. Written on seal tongue of Commission - "Dilectis sibi Thome Legh Petro Davenport Thome Steele Johi Sandforth Gervaso Stainrodd Ratcliffe A.....der tribus vel duobus eorum de .....pot (Fr) lyndsey ar. Eds Downes Jun gen.&c.sine dilone."
Physical DescriptionParchment: 2 membranes joined by a string threaded through left side, which seems to have replaced a pin whose holes remain. Commission: 1 membrane 12½" wide by 3", seal tongue inscribed with names of addresses. Petition: 1 membrane 7½" wide by 9½", seal missing. Seal on Commission seems to have been 2" and 3" diam.
