Defendant: Peter Legh, Edward Downes, John Shallcrosse, Esqs., John Lowe, Richard Johnson, gents., executors and trustees of estates of Thomas Legh late of Ridge, county Chester, Esq., dcsd.

Judgement dated 22 February 1709 in a suit in Chancery before William lord Cowper, Baron of Wingham, Ld.High Chancellor; whereby executors of Thomas Legh's are to raise out of Estates in trust chargeable under Legh's will for the repayment of his debts, a sum of £404. 10s. 0d. owed at time of death to Henry Bradshaw son of Samuel Bradshaw Esq., acknowledged by note from Legh to Henry Bradshaw 4 April 1699, the sum to be paid to executors of Samuel Bradshaw. (The suit had been brought upon a Bill of Complaint, Easter Term 1706 by Samuel Bradshaw upon a Letter of Attorney of Henry Bradshaw 8 December 1703).

The estates in trust, as held by Legh at time of death;- divers manors, messuages, lands etc., in the Countys of Chester and Derby, including interest in a lead mine called Mill Close Grove and other small mines in the county of Derby, seisin in fee of the Mannor or Lordshipp of Downes in the county of Chester and the capital messuage of Ridge called Ridge Hall, and lands etc., in Downes, Sutton, Sutton Downes, and Blarblow and elsewhere in Chester, a moiety of the Mannor or lordship of Birchover alias Birchore in the county of Derby, lands etc., there and in Taddington county Derby, and fee simple according to custom of Manor and Forest of Macclesfeild [Macclesfield] in Sutton Downes and Winkle [Wincle] alias Winkhull, and a capital messuage or grange in Winkle [Wincle] called Winkle Grange.
