Covenant leading Uses of a Trust created by Surrender 14 May 1705 from Edward Downes to John Shallcrosse and John Lowe, of land in Pottshrigley [Pott Shrigley], fields called the Hogshirt, the Smith Croft, the Nicho meadow, the Rakes Lane, the Rushie field, and by Surrender 31 May 1703 from James Gaskell of Worth yeoman to John Shallcrosse and John Lowe, of lands in Pott Shrigley called Heap's House, Heap's Meadow. This covenant made in consideration of a loan of £150 to Downes by Higginbotham, repayable by annual portions of £50.

Physical DescriptionParchment: 1 membrane 24" wide by 20". Seals: 2 on placard on turn-up, red, signet, 8mm by 10mm; device on both the bust of an old man. There has been another such seal on the left side of the bottom edge, but it has been cut away. The doct. had therefore originally three seals, two of which were countersigned (the left and right seals; the centre one was not countersigned). The left seal has been cut away and the signature with it, leaving only a capital E (Edward Downes?). The right seal has also been cut away leaving only a 7-shaped ink mark at the edge of the cut to show where the signature was. (The signatures of the witnesses of sealing and delivery have been obliterated; as also a signature of E. Downes which was with them). Duty Stamps 1s.
