DescriptionTranscription by Ben Bowker, of depositions and evidence concerning disputed boundaries between the lands of Lord Derby and John Shallcrosse Esq., in Taxall and Kettleshulme, on Kettleshulme Common; and a note on the highways there; which Bowker took from 'an old paper' document (no date given). See also [DDS] 20/14, [DDS] 20/16 and [DDS] 20/17 a letter referring to Bowker's transcript. The 'old paper' was produced by deponent No. 5 who said it was written by one Thomas Hanmer who married deponent's Grandmother, and is a genuine agreement of the divisions of the Commons within Kettlesholme

Depositions are taken from 1. William Booth of Macclesfield, Gent., over 70 yrs old, born within the Forrest of Macclesfield, whence he removed 12 years ago to the town of Macclesfield. 2. Joshua Walker of Ranow [Rainow], 54-55 yrs old, born in Ranow [Rainow]. 3. Adam Slack of Kettlesholme [Kettleshulme], over 40 yrs old, born there. 4. Jonathan Kitchen of Macclesfield, Lord Derby's Agent. 5. Mr.George Brocklehurst of Kettlesholme [Kettleshulme], over 72 yrs old, born there. 6. Adam Bennet, about 70 yrs old. 7. John Bennet of Taxall [Taxal], about 37 yrs old. 8. John Hill of Taxall [Taxal], about 60 yrs old.

1. From Pim Chair in a straight line to Sandy Gutter thence in a bend inclining towards Kettlesholme to Wind Kather Rock.
2. (quoting one Betty Goodwin) from the south end of Wind Kather Torr inclining westward and not far from the road side, to a certain hole 20 roods from Wind Kather, to another hole, to Pim Chair then (quoting one Mr. Lunt) by a lane from Pim Chair to Wind Kather.
4. (quoting Elizabeth Goodwin, aged about 80, seven years ago) from the Torr Top inclining west-ward at first to Sandy Gutter thence straight to Pim Chair.
