Description (Portsmouth) "Dear William and Elizabeth Our dearest Hugh was landed today from the steamer Transit after a long passage. He has had an attack of brain fever and is extremely weak and strict orders are sent from the doctor that he must be kept perfectly quiet so I shall not move him before Monday and I will write to you again when any plans can be fixed for our return to Birtles. His wound is doing well. The top of his head is shaved and he has a large plaster. You will be pleased to hear that the Pony is coming to England. I have not time to writ more tonight, but I will not lose a post in telling you the joyful news of Captain. H's arrival
