TitleSir Francis Leicester [1674-1742]
DescriptionThe number of letters written to Sir Francis Leicester is not large. They relate to estate business or trivial social matters. The most interesting examples are probably those relating to the Weaver Navigation. Sir Francis was involved in this commercial enterprise, not only because Mr Gorst (a principal promoter) was also steward at Tabley, but also because as an M.P. he was concerned in steering necessary acts relating to the Weaver through Parliament.
