Administrative HistoryCheshire West and Chester Council was established by the Cheshire (Structural Changes) Order 2008, which implemented the reorganisation of local government in Cheshire under the Local Government and Public Involvement in Health Act 2007. Cheshire County Council and the 6 district councils (Chester City Council, Ellesmere Port and Neston Borough Council, Vale Royal Borough Council, Crewe and Nantwich Borough Council, Congleton Borough Council and Macclesfield Borough Council) all ceased to exist and were replaced by two new all purpose unitary authorities 1 April 2009
