Administrative HistoryDeposited by Skills Funding Agency, the successor to the Learning and Skills Council and an agency of the Department for Business, Innovation & Skills. The LSC was a non departmental public body established in 2001 by the Learning and Skills Act ( 2000). It took over the functions of the training and enterprise councils and the Further Education Funding Council and was responsible for the planning and funding of vocational education and training in England. The national office was based in Coventry and operated through 47 local offices. These included offices for Cheshire and Warrington,Cumbria,Lancashire, Greater Manchester and Merseyside each with its own council. In late 2007 these local councils were replaced with regional bodies and this led to the formation of the North West Regional Council. The LSC was dissolved in March 2010 and was succeeded by the Young People's Learning Agency and Skills Funding Agency.
