| Description | This collection comprises papers relating to parliamentary Bills which were either promoted by the city or which involved the city's interests. Since many of these local Bills preceded Acts of parliament relating to Chester, the papers in this collection mainly relate directly to the resulting Acts (CLA). There are also two nineteenth century petitions to the House of Commons, one concerning the control of the Brewers' Company over publicans and the other city magistrates' powers to commit children to reformatory institutions. |
