Pleas of the crown at Chester before John le Blund, mayor of Chester, William de Mulveton' and William son of Peter de Brichull', then sheriffs.
Pleas of the crown held at Chester on Monday next after the feast of Saint Leonard, the Abbot, 10 Edward [II]. [8 November 1316].
Margin: Charge.
Agnes daughter of John le Bole accused Richard of Werington of theft. Pledges of prosecuting David Donfoul and John de Thornton'.
Margin: Charge. Judgement. Quittance. He is pardoned. Fine 2s.
Agnes daughter of John le Bole accused Richard of Werington' of stealing from her 1 tunic, price 5s, 2 kerchiefs, price 2s, 1 linen sheet, price 12d, 1 hood, price 6d, in the town of Chorlton' on Sunday before the feast of Saint Mathias in the [9th] year of the reign of King Edward [21 February 1316]. And the said Richard said that he is guilty in nothing, and from this etc., he puts etc. The jurors etc. say that he is guilty in nothing. Therefore he was acquitted, and the said Agnes was committed to gaol etc., and made a fine for 2s by the pledges of David Donfol and John de Thornton'. And the said Richard [recovered] damages.
Margin: Judgement. They are acquitted.
Hugo Kissebrothir, Robert Arnald, and Robert Henid were indited because they broke into the barn of Alexander Hurel and
... to the value of 10s, and that they are common robbers for stealing geese and sens. Asked how they wish themselves to plead, they say that they are guilty in nothing, and from this they put themselves from good and evil. The jurors say that they are not guilty. Therefore they are acquitted.
Margin: Judgement. They are acquitted.
Adam son of Isolde le Kakester' and Roger his brother were indited because they were common robbers for stealing sheep and oxon and [...] in the city. They say that they are not guilty and from this they put themselves from etc. The jurors say that they are not guilty. Therefore they are acquitted and Isolde their mother, indited for receiving, will remain aquitted because the principals were discharged.

Hugh le Dosser', Roger le Dosser' and William Barleg' were indited because they were common robbers for stealing corn and malt in the mill at Chester, and because they stole one bushell of malt from the malt of John le Barker' price 4s a fourth part of one bushell of malt of Henry Wade, price 12d. They say that they are not guilty, and from this they put themselves etc. The jurors say that they were not guilty. Therefore they were acquitted.

And William le Wode was indited because he stole one sheep which was of Robert de Roby in le Mineton' in Chester. He says that he is not guilty and from this puts himself from good and evil. The juros say that he is not guilty. Therefore he is acquitted.
Margin: Judgement. He is acquitted. Adam, servant of William Beche was indited because he is a common robber for stealing night... of Henry Wade to the value of 5s. He says that he is not guilty. And from this he places himself from good etc. The jurors say that he is not guilty. Therefore he is acquitted, and Richard de Thornihul' indited for receiving will remain acquitted...
Margin: Charge. Jorwerth Varch accused Richard son of Thomas Sersel of stealing one oxen from him, price 10s. Pledges for prosecuting Richard le Lewade and Thomas Gyn.

Jorwerth Varch accused Richard, son of Thomas Sersel because he stole from him one oxen... price 10s... on Sunday before the.feast of Saint Lawrence the Abbot... where he a rrested the said Richard... from the said oxen with great trouble... and he says that he is not guilty and from this puts himself etc.... they say that he is guilty. Therefore... nothing in goods.

Margin: Charge. Simon de Aldisleye accused Henry de Bradburne of the rape of Margaret his wife and the robbery of his goods. Pledge for prosecuting Roger Spark.
Margin: Charge. Not prosecuted... Quittance. Simon de Aldisleye did not follow his charge against Henry de Bradburne whom he accused of the rape of Margaret his wife, and the robbery of his goods. Thus he and his pledge are in pity, and the said Henry at his suit is acquitted and the said Simon is imprisoned. Margin: He is hanged. Robert le Taillour of Berchirton taken with a stolen tunic price etc. And he confessed other robberies and different burglaries of houses. Therefore he is hanged. No goods.
Margin: He is hanged. William Bolt of Cotoun taken with one tunic, one plate and one shirt price four shillings. Asked how he wishes to be acquitted, he says that he is not guilty. The jurors say that he is guilty. Therefore he is hanged. No goods.
