DescriptionInquest at Chester in the presence of the Mayor and Sheriffs on Tuesday after the Feast of the Invention of the Holy Cross, on the oath of twelve jurymen (who include Richard de Dutton, Ralph de Hatton, John de Hatton, John de Madeley, Henry del Yate, John de Arwe, Richard Stalmyn and John de Wygan) who said that John Daa, John de Kyrbeby and others were all regrators and forestallers of calves, goats, lambs and other beasts before the first hour, against ......
They said that William de Hogrene, Robert de Brumburgh, William Hendesson, Richard del Hey, David de Stercheley, Robert Neraferd and others were common forestallers and regrators of [fish goods?] to the prejudice and harm of the King and people.
They said that John le Cook, William Grenehode and others were common forestallers and regrators of capons, geese, goats, hens and [fish?] which had been kept back(?), before the first hour, against proclamation and ordinance; and that they unlawfully occupied the ground of the commonalty with stalls, tables and pigstyes, to the prejudice and harm .....
They said that John Torfolt, John de Thelwall, saddler, and Geoffrey le Sadler bought hides which had been kept back(?) and sold them to merchants ....
They said that John Aleyn(?), skinner, Hugh le Couper, Maurice le Skynner, Henry le Skynner, Alan le P[e?]heymeyn did the same.
