TitleVictuallers' recognizances with names of houses.
Date1800-1808
DescriptionWith copy on f.1 of a petition to the Mayor and Magistrates from the inhabitants of Nicholas Street against an application to licence a public house in Nicholas Street because, 'there are too many such houses in this City and that the licence thereof must tend to corrupt the Morals and endanger the health of the lower orders of people by the practises to which the too numerous Publicans must resort to gain custom, and sensible that such a House however well regulated must sometimes disturb the quiet of this respectable street and that the dread of it must depreciate the value of our Houses.' 5 Oct. 1808.
