[1] John, son of Robert de Legh [Leigh]
[2] has appointed Nicholas le Gardener as his attorney to receive full and peaceable seisin
[3] of all lands and tenements which were formally of John, son of John of Mottram [Mottram St. Andrew] in the [Legh]Lee
[4] in the vill of Mottramandrewe [Mottram St. Andrew], and which Thomas holds as a gift of Reginald del Dounes [Downes],
[5] To hold right and acceptable whatever the said Nicholas
[6] lawfully does in his name in the premises. Given at Macclesfeld [Macclesfield]
[7] on Mondaynext before the feast of the Purification of the Blessed Mary, in the nineteenth year of the reign of King Richard II, after the conquest of England.
