TitleConvocation papers
DescriptionFrom the 15th century convocations were held by the Provinces of York and Canterbury. Traditionally, they were made up of the ecclesiastical members of the Province and were separated into an Upper House and Lower House. The Upper House largely consisted of the diocesan bishops and members of the archbishop's council. Membership of the Lower House was comprised from proctors elected from the clergy of each diocese within the Province. The papers within this series of records relate to the election of proctors, including: poll books listing voters and votes cast; Citations ordering attendance at convocation and minutes relating to election proceedings.
