Description | Every year, indentures were made between the outgoing and incoming sheriffs relating to the transfer of the custody of prisoners in the Northgate gaol. Each indenture contains a list of prisoners with the reason for their imprisonment and in cases of debt, the amount is stated. After 1758, the list of prisoners is signed by the keeper of the Northgate gaol. This office seems to have been held from 1758 to 1764, by Mary Cattridge.
