A French ship, anchored in the river at Chester, was boarded one night by a group of persons under the impression that she was Spanish; in the scuffle, one of the crew was killed and thrown overboard. When the boarders discovered that the ship was French, and most of the cargo English, they fled. - July 31st-Aug 2nd [c 1585-1586]
15 - Examinations concerning the piratical expeditions into Northern waters of two ships, the 'Hare' and the 'Admiral', alias the 'Dragon'. The former took as a prize a ship from Portugal and the latter one from Dunkirk. Mr. Roger Hurleston, on board the 'Hare', purchased her prize, and her crew received cash. - Nov 16th-20th 1586
